How UV Geek UV Energy Index Is Calculated

During the continuous-output test, the Linshang LS128 measures cumulative UV energy density. The instrument reports accumulated energy in millijoules per square centimeter (mJ/cm²).

UV Geek UV Energy Index = LS128 Total Energy (mJ/cm²) ÷ 1,000

Dividing by 1,000 converts the cumulative energy density from mJ/cm² to J/cm². The resulting numerical value is rounded to the nearest whole number and reported as the UV Geek UV Energy Index.

Calculation for this tested flashlight

435156 mJ/cm² ÷ 1,000 = 435.156 J/cm²

UV Geek UV Energy Index = 435

The UV Geek UV Energy Index is a derived comparison metric, not an industry-standard unit of measurement. It should not be confused with instantaneous UV irradiance measurements such as µW/cm².

Testing was conducted by UV Geek using consistent, documented procedures and factory-calibrated measurement equipment. Published results and derived metrics reflect the specific units tested, the recorded measurements, and UV Geek’s interpretation of those data.
